Human = Animal ? March 20, 2009

A thing that I’ve been thinking over and over again. Really I can’t let my mind out of this.

People that live under religion will directly refuse this. People in general will refuse this idea, even scientist will take much time to agree upon this idea. But somehow, I found too much similiarity between human and animal, so that we are able to call human an animal.

1) Physically

This part is really obvious. What differentiate plant with animal? One of the most obvious is the body structure.

• Plant doesn’t have bones, but animal do have. Owh, yea, some animal doesn’t have, like jelly fish, they don’t have one.
• Animal has muscles to move, tentacles, whatever it is. Plants, they don’t have one.
• Animal put all of their sensory system on their nerves. Yea, I know some animals do not use nerve but they use something different in the biology term, but basically they have a part that control the sensor. Plant? They don’t have one.
• And I’m sure an elemantary student can find a lot on this.

Then, let’s see. What differentiate human from animal?

• Does it bones? Human is mamals, they have bones as vertebrae does. Plus, the bone structure, for example on the chest, it is very similiar to, let’s say monkeys, ratz etc.
• Does it inner organs? Gee… We only have a bit different organs with other mamals. We have gaster, they have gaster. We have heart, they have heart.
• What else?
• and they got lot of similiarities: both human and animal do shit
• both female human and animal (mamals), feel hurt when they’re giving birth
• both human animal dies when their brain (central nerve system) injured in a fatal way
• both cells doesn’t have wall surround it. 

Remember here, dog and cat is not same, but both of them are animal, don’t they? It goes the same for duck and elephant, but both are animals.

2) Society

Some people try to explain the difference with community. Human are able to communicate, while animal don’t. human build community, animal don’t. I only suggesting them to watch more discovery channel. Elephant have such an amazing organization structure. A female as leader controlling the whole group. Defensive system when being attacked, where to walk, where to eat, where to drink. Everything have a very organized structure. Can you say that animal cannot build community? 

As human speak in dog’s language, dog also can’t speak in human’s language. Therefore, does this necessarily means that  animal cannot communicate?FYI, Dog from Russia can talk with dog from Mexico.

3) Morality

Animal do not know morality, they said. Guys, does human knows morality? Who exploited the world in such a way till it endangered all species on earth? Can you still say that human do have morality?

Come on, look at the ducks. They support each other while migrating, by making a V shape when flying. A group of Buffalo will fight to death with lions if they know their kids were threatens. An elephant that injured will never be left by its group. They do not have morality? Come on…

Some people now will say, it is their instict to do so. Well, doesn’t it human instict to feel pity? Doesn’t it human instict to feel symphaty? No? How come it is not an instict?

Does human different from animals? Does elephant different with lion? Yes it does. Where’s the difference? Elephant has a huge body with huge ear and long nose. Lion is hairy with strong fangs and yellow body.

Human does the same. Human have a developing brain, while cheetah does not. But cheetah do have a develop its feet while human does not. So what the hell is the difference?

Every morality, every ability to judge right and wrong, every thought, it is from the brain. From the evolusionary system, somehow, human developed their brain, and not other parts. As monkeys do developed their tail muscles and feet muscles and as giraffes developed their neck, human only developed their brain. Nothing else was developed. Doesn’t it clear that human can be as they are through the evolution?

I, myself, will not say that human is from monkey. But an “undeveloped human” that still have possibilities to be developed in many part, and then somehow, this “Undeveloped human” developed its brain.

And through the developed brain, we are able to think, we are able to be creative. Through this part too, we create culture, moral value, law, religion, government, law, etc. Why gorillas do not know religion? Because their brain is not developed well so it cannot think about the concept of a religion.

Religionist will then start to argue that we are able to know God. Yeah, do you ever think that “probably God doesn’t exist” or something similiar? There’s one interesting theories that probably true. God is human creation. Why God is so perfect? in this theory, they say that God is the representative of something that human want to have, but they can’t. So they create such an image that is omnipotent and can fulfill their desire of things they can’t have.

So, basically, doesn’t it rude to call ourself not an animal? Well, fine, I also hate to be called an animal, but I can’t resist the fact that we are the highest level of animals.
