Questio Pro Lux Lucis

In the time of ressesion and likely-going-to-depression, film industry never stop rollling. Hollywood still produced good movies and Bollywood still fill their movies with dance. And so does Indonesia. Indonesia film Industries are keep rolling ahead, making new movies, film, tv drama (sinetron), etc.

However, unlike Hollywood or Bollywood, Indonesias film industries has a very unique characteristic. let’s say, they ONLY able to create three types of movies, and whenever they try to create other genre than that movies, they go suck.

1) Typical Indonesian Horror Movies
It is always goes like Si Buta dari Goa Hantu (The blind from haunted Cave), and Jelangkung (Another type of Indonesian ghost), and Kuntilanak Beranak (kuntilanak have son). I just wonder, cn’t they created another good movies rather than those movies? Come on, Kuntilanak beranak?

For those of you who do not know what kuntilanak is, Kuntilanak is a ghost of a pregnant woman that died by commiting suicide while still being pregnant. There the woman will become a kuntilanak. And so, what’s the point of making film Kuntilanak beranak?

2)Indonesian Humor Movies
While FPI (Defender of Islam) always voiced that they’re against pornography, sadly, other Muslim makes humor movies that contains pronography a lot. And this is going wierd because they can’t make anopther humor movies if they do not make fun of others or involved some sexual thingy.

3) Drama
Ok, everybody loves drama. Even Hollywood makes a lot of drama movies. But again, Indonesian Drama movies are so typical. You can guess the storyline before you eneter the theatre and find the movie ges exactly the same as your prediction. Geez… Nothing fun in there.

Luckily, Indonesia’s film industry also make movies for television. And well, although I hope that it is better, but still… Ok then, enough of making bad names of own country. Now, I’ll just give several example of Indonesia TV film, and you judge on your own.

1) Drama
The age of TV drama in Indonesia begins with a film called Tersanjung (Being Praised, or whatsoever). This Tersanjung Drama, have 7 season, and each season contains more than 200 episodes. So they take like several years to finish. And it is funy cause, In tersanjung 5, all of the players were different with Tersanjung 1, but they still make them. The same character played by diffrent actors. LOL.

Movies maker realize this and try to make shorter film, which usually in 2-3 season with 150 episodes each. But another phenomenon happens. If you see the advertisement, it always goes with the main caharcter crying, while 1-2 other woman looking the main character with an evil eye, and 1-2 man lookng the woman with sympathy. and IT ALWAYS GOES LIKE THAT! Geez… 

2) Religion Movies
As an Islamic contries, the muslim love to make a Muslim Movies. Stating that the evil will be punished, etc. However, I always wonder, why the antagonist character were punished physically when they’re dead? For example, the body did not fit to the hole in ground (Make a larger hole fool!), or suddenly letting out liquids and blood, etc… And the bad never punished when they are alived. Gosh! This is nonsense.

One more, they start to make movies that have dialogs with arabic language. They’re quite creative though.

3) Humour
They just go the same…

Plus, I just seen a TV drama called Tarzan cilik (little tarzan). It is an 8 years old tarzan who lived in a jungle near Jakarta (I wonder where it is), that was found by modern man. Than the tarzan befriend with him, and surprisingly are able to speak Indonesian fluently (I wonder if he learned Indonesian in the jungle).

And the episode which I seen just now. The tarzan met a stone-age-tribes in the jungle. And he (remeber that he’s just 8 yo boy) able to take control the government of the tribe, telling them to take a bath, and brush their tteth (hey, stone-age-tribes do not know how to brush their teeth!), and telling them to do SHOLAT! Geez.. OMG! I wonder, if the director and maker of this film are stupid or it is the Indonesian that is stupid.

So well… I won’t take any further steps in commenting Indonesian movies…

But FYI, I very rarely watch TV here… LOL!
